The calm after the storm.. #UKStorm

So this time yesterday, we were bracing ourselves for the ‘worst storm the UK has seen in years’ as it was billed by the media. Twitter was awash with comments of ‘Oh is that it?’ or ‘Storm has caused massive damage *picture of fallen over wheelie bin*’. The storm seemed to take a narrow path, and weirdly, Chelmsford – where NOTHING happen,s actually got a bit of a pasting.

I was mildly annoyed with the ‘is that it?’ crowd. It almost felt like they wanted lives to be lost, homes destroyed, and property damaged. Sadly though, all of that *did* happen – not necessarily in YOUR town.

Thankfully no one in Chelmsford died, but there was a lot of damage done – I had a few errands to run and there were trees, branches and walls down along my journey. Twitter user @agentblythe was one particular resident hit hard – he lost the roof from his flat on the Army and Navy roundabout. These are a few of the pictures from his tumblr page (which he’s kindly allowed me to use) of the damage.

Those are girders that have blown onto the ground.

Those are girders that have blown onto the ground. If they;d have hit someone on the ground, or driving past, it could have been a lot worse!

A piece of metal work is hanging precariously down..

I took a few pictures while I was out and about..

Hope all of you were safe and sound and didn’t have too much damage done!
