Product – Nokia Lumia 1020
Price£554

This entry has been a bit of a bone of contention with me, it was a pain in the arse purchasing it through Three, but, Nokia came good in the end.

I’ve had the phone for a few months now, and it really is technically one of the most impressive phone handsets you’ll probably see for a while. Its 41MP camera sensor mindblowingly awesome, and the camera software itself allows photo geeks a multitude of tweaks and options you just don’t get elsewhere. Even better in the new year, a software update is out that produces RAW DNG files for you to tweak to your heart’s content.

It’s also a fabulous phone for parents to give to their kids – the Kid’s Corner section is a GENIUS idea. It’s a customisable area of the phone that you can choose which Apps and Games your child can play with. There’s no chance of them creeping into your phone dialer, or deleting your emails – it’s all hidden from tiny fingers. Whilst the selection of apps for children isn’t as vast as you’d find on the iPhone, there are some great ones.

J particularly loves ‘Daddy Pig’s Puddle Jump‘ it’s really simple to play and he taps the screen like a nutter. G likes playing with the ‘Kids Story Builder‘ app, it allows them to turn pictures into their own story books, with words and sounds too. It’s really simple to use!

I think the best aspect of the phone is the fact it allows you to create high quality memories – I did rant and rave about people capturing life changing moments on shit cameras. This isn’t the case with the the Nokia Lumia 1020, the 34MP pictures will look incredible for years to come.

Despite Windows Phone 8 being a bit clunky around the edges, you’ll soon forgive it for the gorgeous photos it takes, and the ability to keep little ones entertained without delving into your part of the phone! 🙂
