When we were at Chessington a few weeks ago to celebrate the fact DreamWorks Animation’s Penguins of Madagascar is out on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD on 30th March – myself and the kids were invited to a special screening of the movie. Hosted in the corporate suite at the Chessington Safari Hotel, the kids settled down onto squishy beanbags to see DreamWorks Animation’s latest smash.

I’ve not seen any of the ‘Madagascar’ Franchise so wasn’t really sure what to expect, I was quite surprised how much I enjoyed it. The plot is fairly simple – our heroes Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private join forces with secret undercover organization ‘The North Wind’ to stop the evil Dr. Octavius Brine from destroying the world. It’s a rip roaring adventure filled with slapstick, giggles, and Cheezy Dibbles!

Children of all ages will get something from the film, smaller ones will like the elements of silliness and slapstick, older ones will like the story and the thrills. I found myself chuckling away too! Despite there being a few ‘close calls’ and warnings of mild peril, there’s very little that might scare a smaller person (this isn’t a repeat of the scary Postman Pats in the terrible movie!) I’d definitely recommend it to put on to break up a rainy holiday afternoon!

Also included in the retail packaging of Penguins of Madagascar is two free children’s tickets for Chessington in the 2015 ‘Year of the Penguins’.

It was James’ first time to sit in a ‘cinema’ style atmosphere to watch a film, and he did surprisingly well considering the attention span of a two year old. Georgia was transfixed for the duration of the film, so I was able to sit and watch it happily with a few drinks.

You can grab a copy of Penguins of Madagascar here from Amazon.
