I’m not sure if you know, but my family are Ambassadors for LEGOLAND Windsor Resort and this means we get a little sneaky look at happenings at the Resort, and some of it I can share with you! So, the cool cats at LEGOLAND have sent me this fantastic time-lapse footage of their LEGO Model Makers using over 500,000 bricks and building a LEGO Death Star which is the centre piece of the revamped LEGO Star Wars Miniland.

The final result is extremely impressive –

Weighing in at over 860kg, the perfectly spherical model took 15 Model Makers three months to build and guests can trigger special effects and bring the scene to life. This and the other models were installed in a mammoth operation that took three days as the massive new 2.4 metre wide, 3 metre high creation was carefully hoisted into position and the final bricks and scenes were put in place.

The LEGO Star Wars Miniland, including the LEGO Death Star is open to the public right now – but for hardcore LEGO Star Wars fans there are a range of events being held on park for the May Bank Holiday (30th April-2nd May). I’m away in America so unfortunately I miss out on it, but if you’re interested you can register for more information on the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort Events Page.

If you’re at a loose end during Easter it’s a fab time to take a trip to the Resort – queues are fairly good, and the weather is set to be pretty decent – plus you can catch the New LEGO Movie 4D Experience!

Disclaimer – I am a LEGOLAND Family Ambassador, and as such I will be invited to events to see the latest the park has to offer in return for tickets. This particular post is written for general interest in UK Theme Parks – I have received no ‘payment’ (monetary or ticket based) for doing so.
