Have you ever thought about building your own spot for the perfect holiday? I know, it sounds a little daunting but go with me on this because it could be a fantastic idea. First of all, let’s face it, at some point or another we all end up on holidays that we never really wanted to go on in the first place. Either the crowds are too large, the weather is crazy, or it’s simply too stressful.
Well, that’s not going to be the case if you choose your own holiday hotspot. Rather than bothering with the crowds or the typical vacation stresses you can choose the ideal place you’d love to retreat to every so often and then set to work setting up your own private holiday hot spot right there. Since you have the freedom of choosing where you want to be, you’ll always enjoy your vacations. That’s not the only advantage either.
Don’t you find it stressful trying to save up for those holidays? Take Disney World as an example. Heading to Disney World for a family of four could cost anywhere up to ten grand, and that’s what they refer to as the value package! If you want a luxury vacation, it could cost you as much as a new sports car! Wouldn’t it be great if you knew there was always a place for you to go on vacation that was already bought and paid for?
Yes, I’m talking about choosing your own permanent place in the sun. We all dream about it, we all consider it, but very few of us get around to actually doing it. Well, that’s about to change because I’m going to show you how to create your own beautiful holiday destination.
Buy In Your Favourite Hotspot
You might already have your favorite hot spot to head off to on vacation and if you don’t mind the crowds, why not buy a home there? That way, you can always go back to it without the cost of the hotel or the stress of raising most of the cash. You can buy a holiday home absolutely anywhere, and if you don’t have the cash in your account, you can probably get a loan if you plan it like an investment. Can a holiday home be an investment.
Definitely! When you’re not using it, you can rent it out and that way, you’ll be able to quickly make back whatever money you paid for it, getting rid of that mortgage. For the typical holiday home, by renting it out, you’ll probably be able to pay it off in just a few years.
If you want my advice, you should think about buying in a place where the exchange rate benefits you. For now – thanks brexit – it’s still financially beneficial to buy a property in America. You can get a luxury property with a pool for the typical price of an average UK home. So, if you do love Disney World, you can purchase a home in Kissimmee just half an hour from the theme park, in a gated street. It’s always best to purchase a holiday home in a gated area or private estate because it a) reduces maintenance issues and b) ensures you have great levels of security for your investment.
Of course, you could be a little bolder and rather than buy your holiday home, you might build.
Building The Dream
Forget heading off to some tropical location. Perhaps what you really want on a typical vacation is somewhere in the wilderness or forests where you can enjoy the outdoors. Perhaps you’d love a log cabin next to a gorgeous lake where you can head out fishing each morning. Or, close to winding, wild mountain bike trails. Maybe you just want somewhere peaceful and stress free to escape the troubles of modern life.
It sounds like what you want is a country home somewhere not too far from where you reside. That way, you can escape for the weekends, the half terms or even the bank holidays and still be back to start work in the week. It could be a fantastic investment not just for you but your family, giving you a place where you can spend some real time together.
Interestingly, this type of possibility might be cheaper than you’d think. The first thing that you’ll need to do is find the plot of land to build on. If you head out into the country, you will see plots of land like this being advertised for sale, and you can usually get them for a good price. However, you do need to think about the practicality of the land and the possible issues that you might have. For instance, you should never build on a floodplain.
Once you have the land, you can actually get full kits to build your own log cabin in the wilderness. Log cabin kits are affordable and available for purchase online, but they do need to be built on a concrete foundation. So, you’ll need to complete a little work preparing the land first. You might be wondering how much land you’ll need for this type of purchase. Well, it depends on how big you want your log cabin to be. You might just want a little cabin for weekend trips, or you could opt for the full luxury package. It’s totally your choice.
You can still rent out a cabin like this and turn it into an investment, but would you need to? Based on the average price, you could probably afford it without renting it out. Of course, both of the options we’ve talked about thus far are based on the idea of running again and again to a place that you love. What if you want to journey to different areas while still always knowing you have a place to stay?
Caravans And RVs
This is where the fun really begins. For ten thousand…ish you can get yourself a luxury caravan. Make sure you have a car that suitable for towing it and you’re good to go. Stepping inside is kind of like walking into your own private hotel room with a flat screen TV and in some cases and electric fire. The latest modern caravans really can look like a typical front room inside. If you want to take things one step further, you can invest up to a 100k and buy a luxury RV. With this, you’ll be able to go anywhere you like on vacation and have place to stay that’s probably as big as the entire downstairs of your house! Some even have car carriers, so you have a form of transport once you get to wherever you’re going.
However, there is one warning that should be offered to fellow British chums. If you’re thinking about investing in the ultimate American RVs, be careful. The winding country lanes around Britain aren’t really made for them, and it can feel like you’re trying to steer a double decker bus. It’s certainly not for the faint of heart, though the prospect of having a luxury home on wheels is certainly appealing.
If you’re worried about storage when not in use there are special sites that will keep your caravan and your RV for you, safe and secure for a fee. Or again, you can rent it out privately and completely wipe away the purchase cost.
Do you love these ideas or are you intent on sticking with the typical, hotel and flight vacation?
