Straight off the showcase floor of CES 2018, the world’s premier platform for the latest innovations in consumer technology comes a host of great new health and fitness gadgets that are set to be released in the not too distant future. Whether its software that helps track your sleep or the newest rendition of a wearable- there’s little doubt that health and fitness gadgets and gear are a rapidly growing segment of the tech market. We’ve compiled a list of health and fitness gadgets showcased at CES that are set to define 2018 below, and they are all as good as the online pokies NZ has to offer in their hi tech capabilities:
L’Oreal UV Sense
L’Oreal’s UV Sense is a tiny, button-like sticker that fits on the base of your fingernail. This inconspicuously small device is a sensor that measures the level of UV exposure, as well as other environmental factors. This data is transferred to a mobile app via NFC, which is the real exciting bit as it doesn’t need a battery to operate. This development in the application of NFC has potentially massive implications for wearables.
Sleep is a crucial part of our overall health and wellbeing, so it comes as no surprise that more and more tech manufacturers are releasing products that help you track and optimise your sleep behaviour. Nokia is the latest big name contender to enter the sleep arena with its Nokia Sleep device. It’s a sensor that slides under your mattress, monitoring your breathing, heart rate and movement while you sleep. You can view the data on Nokia’s Health Mate app which is compatible with Alexa.
Under Armor HOVR Smart Shoes
Under Armor has taken fitness trackers off our wrists and moved them onto our feet with the release of their HOVR Smart Shoes. These high-tech running shoes are available in HOVR Phantom and HOVR Sonic versions and pair with the MyMapRun app. They boast a cushioning structure that is soft yet supportive, all the while collecting performance data about your cadence and stride length.
Black Box VR
If you’re looking to take your workout to the next level, why not give virtual reality a try? Black Box VR has developed a 30-minute full body workout in the form of a virtual reality experience. It’s a crazy blend of video gaming and strength training that gives you an immersive workout experience. The company has received a lot of attention at CES after an impressive demo and plans to open a boutique gym in San Francisco later this year.
Skagen Falster Smartwatch
When it came to wearables and smartwatches at CES this year, it was none other than the slick Dutch watchmaker, Skagen that made the most notable splash. It’s the company’s first foray into wearable Android devices and their iconic minimalist design makes this smartwatch the hottest item up for grabs in 2018. The Falster has a black digital touchscreen ensconced in a 42mm stainless steel case which is available in four colour accents – silver mesh, gold mesh, brown leather and black leather.
