How To Make Sure Your Honeymoon Goes Smoothly

After the pressure of the big day is over, the majority of happy, newly-wed couples opt for jetting off on a luxurious honeymoon to celebrate their union. For the sake of your health and sanity, decide where you’re going ahead of time on your honeymoon. This way, you’ll have an exact date to mark on your calendar, and you can focus on other components that will bring your wedding plans together. Opodo advises that you book your flights and accommodation together, as it’s easier and cheaper, and by doing this you could see yourselves saving up to 30%. If you’re not the happiest of fliers, then consider choosing a honeymoon destination that is a little closer to home than some of your other choices. Travelling from the UK, Paris is the closest destination voted as being one of the top places to honeymoon.

Select Your Paradise

If you are feeling ready to tackle your fear of flying, then looking further afield at some of the more tropical countries is going to open your eyes to a selection of the most incredible beaches and natural sights the world has to offer. If you’re choosing to take the plunge in order to enjoy the trip of a lifetime, then you’ll be pleased to learn Bali (36%) and Bora Bora (35%) are two popular tropical destinations for you to consider.

The ultimate location is, of course, subject to your own tastes, but you won’t be short for ideas when looking over a list of some of the most blissful paradise on earth.

Pick The Location That’s Right For You

The Maldives tops the honeymoon wish list according to Opodo, and you’ll be spoilt for choice between Veligandu and the likes of Meeru island and Vilamendhoo. A staggering 51% of those asked said that this tropical nation provides the ideal setting after saying “I do.” Other top honeymoon destinations include Mauritius, Santorini, Venice, and Cuba. The Dominican Republic persuaded 24% of those polled that it was the perfect honeymoon destination, and San Francisco and Paris scored evenly at 20%.

Get Inspired

You’re part of the majority if you agree that when deciding your honeymoon destination, you mostly rely upon the recommendations from friends and family. 48% of people explained that this was how they choose, while 26% let social media influence their choice, and a further 20% say that wedding magazines account for their inspiration behind top honeymoon choices. Opodo report that celebrity honeymoons have a huge say in swaying the vote. 13% of those asked confessed that they were influenced to choose based on where people in the public eye honeymooned.

Make Sure You Are Both Happy

Firstly, take the time to sit down and research possible destinations with your partner at your side. Secondly, make sure that you keep options open until you’re both agreed. Don’t make the mistake of not being one hundred percent happy and, as a result, arguing on your honeymoon. Try and be like the 33% of adults who consider all avenues to avoid argument and dissatisfaction. Best time to book flights is when both you and your partner have discussed and evaluated all of your options. Having said this, 42% of voters profess that their partner’s happiness is the most instrumental part in unlocking the harmonious holiday after getting hitched.
