It’s that time of year again, when we ponder who is ‘100% our type on paper’? That’s right Love Island is back on ITV2. As it did last year, the antics of the gods and goddess like humans in the Love Island Villa have dominated my TV screen again this summer. I’m still not entirely sure why I like it. I think I’m not the only one! However there is something so utterly compelling about the group. Perhaps it’s because like visiting a zoo – you’re behind the glass, watching the lives of creatures so unlike yourself? Perhaps it’s the caustic voice-over from Iain Stirling? Maybe it’s the infrequent ‘Flack Attacks’ on the villa. Or maybe all three?
I’m not going to lie – I’m hooked.
It seems like I’m not the only one – 2018 is the biggest year so far on Love Island. The launch episode of the current series was watched by an average of 2.95 million viewers – ITV2’s highest ever audience. Its popularity shows no sign of faltering.
Keen to capitalise on the success of the show, Thorpe Park guests will soon be able to take part in an exclusive Love Island experience. This includes games, themed drinks and a chance to meet contestants from the notorious ITV2 show. Amity Beach will become the world’s only Love Island fan experience for the duration of summer 2018!
The takeover will include themed cocktails, beach food, a chance to hire VIP beach huts and a specially-themed chill out zone for when the grafting is all too much.
Divisional Director Dominic Jones said –
“Throughout the summer everyone is talking about Love Island and now everyone has the chance to experience what it would be like to be on the ITV2 show, without having to leave the UK. Our beach is open and we’re looking forward to welcoming Love Island fans throughout the summer.”
The Surrey based theme park is celebrating its partnership with the hit ITV2 series with late night opening on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays nights from Thursday 26th July to Saturday 1st September 2018. You can find more info here. As ever, I’m sure in the run up to the event, I’ll cover it in more detail – and will hopefully do some vlogging from one of the nights too!
