Vaping and e-cigarettes are easily becoming the new fad to take the country by storm. It’s supposed to have healthier benefits, with little to no risk of cancer, no staining of teeth, and vapour liquids are available in some interesting flavours.

But what are these e-liquids made from? To put your mind at ease about the ingredients, we’re going to list and discuss each one of them in turn.

Propylene Glycol

Also known as PG, propylene glycol is a clear organic compound that has no recognizable smell. The reason it is used is that it is what carries most of the flavour that you find in eLiquids. It doesn’t produce a lot of vapour when used in vaping tools so that you can get as much of the flavour as possible.

It actually has a lot of practical uses in the medical field as well. It has been used in inhalers for people with asthma, as well as in the treatment of other conditions. It can be applied to the skin, orally, or intravenously, so it’s quite a stable and flexible product. Alternatively, it is also used as preservatives in foods and is present in toothpaste, shampoo, and skincare products.

Vegetable Glycerin

It is also called glycerine or glycerol and is made from the oils of plants. The kind that is used in eLiquid is “food-grade,” meaning that it is safe for consumption. This is the ingredient that is responsible for the cloud you see during vaping.

It is completely harmless in terms of your health, as it is used regularly in shampoo, soap, cough medicine, medications, low-fat foods, and most times as a sweetener. It is also used as a thickening agent in alcoholic liqueurs so that they’re more viscous.

Nicotine

Despite popular belief, nicotine does not actually cause cancer in people who vape. There are some studies that show that nicotine can have an effect on the body’s DNA that increases the susceptibility to cancer, but even that research is not definitive.

Nicotine is a naturally-occurring substance that you find in most plants, including tomatoes, cauliflower, and potatoes. The reason people are drawn to it so much is that it is a stimulant: it enhances a person’s alertness and increases attention. It is also an appetite suppressant, meaning that it makes you feel less hungry throughout the day. That has helped people to lose weight, especially those who are prone to obesity.

Flavourings

These are the fun ingredients that people pay the most attention to. There’s everything available from cinnamon and dark chocolate to birthday cake and powdered doughnuts. The options are endless when it comes to looking for interesting e Liquid flavors from different brands.

But that doesn’t mean that they’re all safe. Avoid flavours that are oil-based or that contain Diacetyl, as these are both hazardous to your health. You also want to avoid using certain flavors, such as spearmint, citrus, or cinnamon with plastic or acrylic tubes, as they can become frosted or even crack. Your best bet is to go for a vaper made from glass, Pyrex, or metal.

Buying eLiquid can seem like a fun chore if you’re interested in trying out different flavours, but it’s important to do your research before buying. Knowing what you’re putting into your body will prevent future health concerns so that you can continue to enjoy the various eLiquids that are out there.
