It’s September – which can only mean ONE thing – HALLOWEEN IS NEARLY HERE! It also means that everywhere is announcing their lineups for their Halloween offerings. This time we’re looking at our favourite Staines based attraction – let’s look at Thorpe Park Fright Nights 2019!
What’s happening at Thorpe Park Fright Nights 2019?
Thorpe Park has declared itself as ‘The Home of Fear’ – once upon a time there wasn’t much in the way of competition for Halloween events, however, in recent years, they are a LOT of new events cropping up. I’ve always enjoyed what Thorpe has offered, and a few ‘blips’ aside cough Vulcan Peak cough they have always pulled it out of the bag. Will the Thorpe Park Fright Nights 2019 lineup truly reveal them to be the ‘Home of Fear’? – we’ll see! They have said goodbye to a classic – Saw: Alive is no more. Which is a shame, because that always delivered an intense experience. Also (thankfully!) Vulcan Peak is gone, the building is now ‘Jungle Escape‘ (although that closes just before Fright Nights).
Thorpe Park say – “Prepare to push your fear endurance to the limit and survive 8 horrifying scare attractions this October including TWO brand new terrifying live-action horror experiences. PLUS the return of SIX frightening favourites including the award-winning Living Nightmare and petrifying Platform 15, as well as riding world-class rides in the dead of night.”
How much does the Thorpe Park Fright Nights 2019 cost?
You can experience Thorpe Park Fright Nights 2019 for as little as £33 if you book in advance on certain days. The Park is open for 12 hours (although some of the outdoor mazes don’t open until sunset). It’s best to book in advance as sometimes the ‘On the Day’ tickets sell out – plus if you pay on the gate it’s £55 per person. If you’re going for Fright Nights I recommend booking the Thorpe Shark Hotel which means you can have a full day in the park, do all the mazes, and not have to treck home. Plus, you get an hour’s free Fastrack on all the rides the following morning. I’ve written a review of it here.
The only upcharge is for ‘Containment’ which is an Escape Room experience – ticket prices haven’t been confirmed yet. Usually, there is a Fastrack option for the mazes too if you want to beat the queues.
When is Thorpe Park Fright Nights 2019 on?
Thorpe Park Fright Nights 2019 runs on 28th and 29th September then 3rd-6th, 10th-13th, 17th-31st October and 1st-3rd November. So it’s on for a while!
What’s on the Thorpe Park Fright Nights 2019 Lineup?
So the ‘blurb’ mentions TWO brand new terrifying live-action horror experiences. The first of which has been announced and that is –
Creak Freak Massacre
Based in and around the old ‘Loggers Leap’ station, this new Scare maze promises to be the ‘most extreme Fright Nights Halloween scare maze to date’. It’s fantastic to see the old building being used, and because it’s not seen much love over the past few years, it’s looking very atmospheric and perfect for a scare maze!
“Hacking their way into the old abandoned Creek Woods Saw Mill in 2019, tread carefully past a deranged family of lumberjacks lest you find yourself chugging gasoline fumes on the wrong end of a chainsaw! Who will survive, and what will be left of them? Brace yourself and prepare for the gruesome worst as you take on more chainsaw massacre madness than ever before in Creek Freak Massacre!”
Who doesn’t love being attacked by Chainsaws? I’m honestly very excited to see what Thorpe Park do with Creak Freak Massacre – I really hope they go fully in on this maze and really up the ante!

Feared 5 Challenge!
Not a maze, but they have created a challenge for you to brave ‘some of Europe’s most thrilling coasters in the pitch-black’. Those who complete the challenge will receive a ‘Feared 5’ Wristband!
“Become a master of darkness at FRIGHT NIGHTS 2019 by taking on our frightful Feared 5 challenge by braving some of Europe’s most thrilling coasters in the pitch black. Simply ride each of our big five coasters once, scan the QR codes located in the coaster queue lines, decipher the creepy code-word and quote it at the Megastore for a FREE exclusive Feared 5 wristband.”
Terror at Amity High
The Vampires are back it would seem.. There will be shocking shows every 20 minutes from 3pm at Stealth Plaza in “Terror at Amity High – High School Sucks.”
“It’s Prom Night at Amity High and the teens of Amity Cove invite you to join their bloodthirsty festivities up at Make-Out Point behind the old Speedway. But these are no ordinary high schoolers – they’re always on the lookout for fresh young blood to join their gang and one swift bite to the neck might take you from necking with Karly the Prom Queen to joining the army of the undead for all eternity! Stay calm, try to blend in and hopefully you’ll survive the night…”
Platform 15
YES! Platform 15 returns – although it’s been around a few years now it’s one of my favourites. It usually has a few tweaks and changes each year and I’m excited to see how it’s looking in 2019.
“Depart on a one-way ticket and trek along the overgrown railway line, the last known route of the vanished locomotive – the notorious Sleeper Express. Don’t lose your tracks and risk disturbing the haunted souls that were once aboard, or you may just experience the same chilling fate.
Can you outrun what lies at the end of the line or will your journey terminate here, at Platform 15?”

Blair Witch
This returned in 2018 and it blew me away – I had some brilliant runs through it, and they used the woods behind Nemesis Inferno so effectively. I hope it returns in a similar guise this year.

The Walking Dead – Do or Die
This was new in 2018 and was pretty good! It had a slightly similar vibe to the ‘Sanctum’ maze in 2017. I enjoyed my runs through this, but I think it needed a slightly more dramatic finale it just felt like it ‘stopped’ – hopefully, this will be tweaked for Thorpe Park Fright Nights 2019.

The Walking Dead – Living Nightmare
I really love The Walking Dead – Living Nightmare – it’s so well themed and put together an is probably one of the most intense Fright Night mazes.

I don’t imagine the scenes will have changed much since last year, but that’s not a bad thing – it was REALLY good.
Will Thorpe Park Fright Nights 2019 have anything else?
Yes! The ‘Containment’ Escape Room returns! It’s a BLAST and although it doesn’t really change much year to year, if you’ve not done it before, I’d definitely recommend it!
Also the ‘Screamplexx Cinema’ returns – I didn’t do this last year, so can’t offer an opinion – however, the blurb says –
“Nothing says Halloween like a terrifying horror movie marathon, so take a break in the Screamplexx Cinema presented by Bloody Cuts! From 3pm, grab your popcorn and settle into your seat as you devour a series of tantalisingly terrifying short films…plus a few spooky surprises along the way…

Final thoughts on Thorpe Park Fright Nights 2019
It’s good to see some changes to the Thorpe Park Fright Nights 2019 line-up. I’m excited to see how Creek Freak Massacre turns out – will it be as good as my Thorpe Park Fright Nights favourite ‘The Asylum’? Thorpe Park Resort really do put on a good event, and I’ve not even mentioned how cool it is to do rides like Swarm and Stealth in the dark. If you can afford to, then definitely grab a Fastrack for the mazes to save queuing.
That’s it for all the announcements. It would seem that Thorpe Park Resort is going for quality over quantity this year, which is probably a good thing. It makes sense to have a few things done well, rather than lots of things done badly!
