It’s safe to say that a road trip through all the American states is probably on most people’s bucket lists. With so much diversity and culture throughout every state, the possibilities seem endless. It may not always be possible to visit them all just yet, however, so here’s a list of the top states to bump up to the top of your travel priority list.

  1. California

The Western state of California is a must if you’re a fan of sun, sea and vibrant scenery. With miles of sandy beaches, boulevards and a party atmosphere, California has a little of everything. California is also home to two of the most popular tourist spots: San Francisco and Los Angeles. California offers the best of the entertainment industry for any movie-lover, and is also home to Universal Studios Hollywood, of course. If you’d rather get on your hiking boots and head away from the glitz and glam, then Yosemite National Park is an absolute must.

  1. Texas

When you think of Texas, you probably think of cowboy hats and horses – and you’re not wrong. Texas is one of the largest US states (second only to Alaska) which means there’s plenty to keep you occupied. Texas plays hosts to many traditional state fairs if you’re looking for some real American culture and classic rides and games, and is also home to many exciting festivals and events (so it’s a good idea to check what’s on before you plan your trip).

It’s also home to many fascinating historical sites – such as the location of JFK’s assassination – and places like Dallas are renowned for their nightclubs and bars. You can go as country bumpkin or as luxurious as you want, because Dallas has something for everyone. If you’re looking for a glamorous experience, why not try private jet rentals to Dallas?

  1. Florida

Florida houses hundreds of miles of glorious beaches, so if sun-seeking is at the top of your priority list, you may want to give Florida a try. Miami especially is known for its arts scene, nightlife and famous South Beach. This state is also the theme park lover’s dream: in Orlando, you can find more than one theme park, including Walt Disney World and Busch Gardens.

Not only that, but Florida houses many interesting historical sites, too, as well as national parks, including Everglades National Park. There’s also a host of history museums available to visit, meaning there’s truly something for everyone in Florida.

  1. Washington

Washington State (not to be confused with the city capital, Washington D.C) is in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Its points of interest include the famous Space Needle, Mount Rainier and Mount Rainier National Park, along with San Juan Island which offers the opportunity for whale watching. Washington is home to an abundant number of national parks and harbours, along with quirky shops and towns, beautiful lakes and scenic drives. If a chaotic party nightlife scene isn’t your thing, Washington could be the tranquil haven for you.
