Winter can be filled with long, dark, cold evenings, and the thought of venturing outside for many can fill your body with dread. Instead of heading out, why not kick off your shoes and create yourself the perfect winter night in! There are so many things you can do to make sure it’s cosy, warm and homely. Here are a few of my top tips…

  1. Creating the right atmosphere

No one wants to light up their living room like Blackpool illuminations when having a cosy night in. Instead of switching the main light on, switch on your lamps or even light a few candles. Candle light can be incredibly soothing and to top it off, they smell great too!

For your night in you’ll also need a few blankets. If you’re curling down to watch a movie by yourself, with your partner or even with your furry friend, blankets are a must. Not only will you enjoy it, but your pooch will be grateful too. You can even scatter a couple over their dog bed as a treat. If you’re on the hunt for a new cosy setup for them, check out the ones over at Orvis, you’re sure to find one to suit your living space style.

  1. Food glorious food

No winter night in is complete without a feast. Whether you order in a takeaway from your local Chinese or decide to create your own pizzas, food is a must. If you decide to make something yourself, why not turn it into a bit of an activity? Make pizza dough from scratch and top with your favourite extras. Pop some milk and chocolate powder on the stove and create the ultimate hot chocolate; topped with mini marshmallows, whipped cream and a flake.

  1. Dress to “impress”

One of the benefits of having a winter night in is that you don’t have to don your best shirt and jeans or a dress and heels. You can get into your cosiest pyjamas, loungewear, dressing gown and slippers, and enjoy being at your maximum comfort level.

Curl up, pop a film on, grab your grub and your favourite drink, and let the night run away with you. You’ll be surprised how quickly a night in can fast become your favourite!
