I am a MASSIVE Alton Towers geek, it is my ‘Happy Place’ – driving the car through the winding roads as you approach it fills me with the same level of excitement as it did the first time I visited when I was 8 years old. It’s a truly magnificent backdrop for one of the world’s best theme parks. Whilst it’s well know for some of the most iconic roller coasters like Nemesis and Oblivion, Alton Towers have generally always catered well for younger guests. In recent years ‘Storybook Land’ and the surrounding areas have looked a little tired and sad, and in need of a revamp.
That re-vamp is here THIS YEAR, and Storybook Land is no more, it’s now..
Opening on the 24th May 2014, CBeebies Land is a new 5 acre land will feature 11 Rides and Attractions designed specifically for little people, including Postman Pat’s Parcel Post, Get Set Go Tree Top Adventure, Justin’s House Pie-O-Matic Factory, and the one I think J will go NUTS for the In The Night Garden Magical Boat Ride!
CBeebies Land will also be home to the The Big Fun ShowTime pavilion which will host live experiences and entertainment including shows from Mike the Knight, The ZingZillas and Nina & The Neurons. Throughout the park, children will have opportunities to meet their favourite characters from In the Night Garden, Postman Pat, Mike the Knight, The ZingZillas and Tree Fu Tom! On top of this the attraction will be updated with new content, while a varied programme of events will run along the main attractions ensuring that no two visits to CBeebies Land will be the same!
I’m really hoping to get little J down there when it opens, because I think he will go nuts at the idea of charging around in one of Postman Pat’s vans, and waving at the ‘In The Night Garden’ characters. I’m definitely not wanting to perve on Nina, no-sireeeeeee! (*nods*)
Being the geek I am I’ve had a sneaky look on the Staffordshire Moorlands website and viewed some of the plans and sketches submitted for Cbeebies Land (a few of them are shown on Towers Street). I’m really excited to see how it all shapes up in the flesh in May! With this, the revamp of Pirates Landing at LEGOLAND Windsor, and some new attractions at Chessington and Thorpe Park I imagine my Merlin Membership will be getting a bit of use this year!
I grew up on Alton Towers and loved the way you described the bendy road and the excitement as you approach. This has gone onto the list of things to do 🙂
