I remember my first ever concert that I went to – it was at the Chelmsford Spectacular in 1994 (ish?) and I saw Eternal and Boyzone. Being a family friendly event, the ‘Spectactular’ was a fantastic and gentle nudge into the world of live music. Sadly, the Spectacular is no more, and I’m aching to get G into seeing some music live. It looks like this summer, Thorpe Park is delivering something that could be a perfect first step for my music loving tween..

Island Beats at Thorpe Park!

It’s running between Monday 6th July – Sunday 30th August, and during the days there will be performances from emerging artists at the Amity Cove Stage including –

Only The Young
Chasing Midnight
Canary Swing
Calvin Goldspink

The headline acts will perform in the evenings on Fridays and Saturdays at the main stage in Lost City in ticketed events. The full line up hasn’t yet been announced – but confirmed so far are –

11th July: The Vamps
24th July: Ella Eyre
1st August: Rizzle Kicks
21st August: Conor Maynard

It’s a fantastic pop line-up that is very tween friendly – although I think G is a bit too cool for The Vamps so I don’t think I’ll see them – would be awkward being a 34 year old man, on my own, singing at the front. Talking about being ‘at the front’ – they are offering a ISLAND BEATS VIP package, offering the opportunity to get up close and personal with your favourite acts, enjoying front row gig access and VIP entrance!

I imagine Rizzle Kicks is probably more G’s cup of tea, and I’ll hopefully be dragging her down to get Down with the Trumpets and have some rides in the dark too as the park will shut at 10pm! Hooray!

You can find out more here and tickets will be available very soon – will you be heading to Island Beats at Thorpe Park?
