For those with wall mounted TVs, unless you’re chasing out cable runs within the wall – of have some kind of shelf nearby. Having a set top box around can lead to untidy cables running everywhere. This is especially the case if you have a TV in an office or bedroom. The Sky Q Mini box is perfect for these spaces. Whilst in theory it needs just two wires (power and HDMI), you still need somewhere to put it. Thankfully the size of it means that you can TV Mount your Sky Q Mini Box.
Here’s what you need
- Space on the back of the TV (the Sky Q Mini Dimensions are 232mm x 155mm x 35mm)
- Command Picture Hanging Strips
- 0.5m HDMI Cable
- 5m Figure 8 Power Cable (This is dependent on how far away your Sky Q box will be away from the nearest socket)
Here’s how to do it
Before I continue – I want to make it clear, you’re messing around with your Sky Q Mini box here – if it breaks or something goes wrong, it’s your fault – not mine! The Command strips are non permanent, so are a good solution if you need your Sky Q Mini box repaired at any point. Each pair can hold 1kg, and as the box is only 500g, it’s sure to stay put!

Will it work for a sky q 2tb ?
In theory – yes – but the bigger boxes kick out more heat, and weigh more. Nothing to lose I suppose!
If my tv is too small to attach the mini box to, could I just stick it to the wall behind the to??
I guess so!
The remote is bluetooth not infrared so it will work outta sight
The remote with the ‘touch’ panel is Bluetooth, the other one, which is supplied with the mini box isn’t
May I ask why you mounted it with the top of the box attached to the TV rather than the bottom?
Of course – the top is flat, – the bottom isn’t, plus is hs 4 little feet in the corners raise it up too. Having the flat ‘top’ of the box against the flat of the TV seemed the most sensible.
Question….. does it matter the box isn’t flat from a wifi point of view??
I don’t think it’s the end of the world – I get a good signal on mine!
Hello, can the Sky Q mini box be powered from the USB connection on my TV? I power other devices on it such as my Rasberry Pi etc
No… It needs a full on 240v.
in ref to a post above..if the mini box is attached behind the tv, does it block the remote signal?
No!

Is the heat generated from the tv and mini box too much for the command strips?
