You can either take the lift or stairs up to the bedrooms. I believe the lifts are meant to have some flashing lights and music (as there is a button to disable them if your child doesn’t like it). This wasn’t working when we visited, however I imagine it’ll be sorted by now.

The lobbies and corridors are themed beautifully, with colourful vibrant walls and soft, squishy carpets. There’s lots to look at, it’s all finished to a fantastic standard. We stayed in a Bugbies Room, there are a range of rooms and suites available. The Bugbies Rooms are the ‘standard’ rooms. I’m going to put together a gallery of all the different rooms. For now let’s go inside..

The ‘Childrens’ Area

As you walk into the room you’ve got the area designed for the little ones. There’s a bunk bed, with a pull out single bed underneath. There’s an ‘activity wall’ opposite the bed with some bits and bobs for little ones to play with. There’s also a TV mounted on the wall for kidlets to watch stuff in bed. There’s so much entertainment in the hotel, I doubt many of these will get switched on!

The Bathroom

The next section is the bathroom. It’s a good size and clearly little guests have been thought of. There’s a ‘dual’ toilet seat for big and little bums, there’s a step for the sink and a nappy/sanitary bin too. Theres a bit of CBeebies Bug artwork above the bath and it’s all very bright and clean.

Storage / Desk

Outside the a bathroom is a storage area where you can tuck in suitcases, and hang up clothes. Each room has a drawer that contains a travel cot and sheet. There’s a shelf with a baby bath and spare pillows too. They have thought of everything a young family could need. On the desk where the standard tea and coffee facilities are, there is also a bottle warmer. Underneath the desk is a fridge too for keeping any milk / food / meds cold.

Main Bedroom

The Main Bedroom area is a great size with plenty of room for the cot bed to be up in (if you choose to have it in this section). The double beds are super comfy and there are sockets on BOTH sides of the bed! Above the bed is the CBeebies Rainbow with a ‘glowing’ bug light which can serve as a night light.

The curtains are thick and block out all the light. The whole room is VERY dark in the nighttime. Also they seem to have thought carefully about the sound proofing. I didn’t hear a THING from any adjoining rooms, or the corridors. No slamming doors, no screaming kids or loud TVs. It was lovely and peaceful, which for a full ‘family’ hotel is a rarity.

The rooms also have Climate Control too, so, despite it being a bit hot and humid outside, we had a cool and restful night. Our particular room had a great view overlooking the lake and the Alton Towers Hotel.

The rooms are all finished off to a fantastic standard, the theming is subtle, and doesn’t rely on gaudy vinyl prints on every surface. It’s extremely well done.

The elephant in the room – the price

There has been a LOT of discussion online about the cost of staying at the CBeebies Land Hotel. Yes. It’s more expensive than the other hotels. Next week, for example, a Bugbies Room with Bed and Breakfast for 2 Adults, 2 Kids with 2 days park entry is £351. In the Alton Towers Hotel it’s £329 and Splash Landings it’s £269.

However, it’s the Summer Holidays – peak time for Alton Towers Resort. Plus the hotel is brand new, and very much in demand, I imagine the prices will fall in time. However it’s worth remembering staying in the hotel is exclusive. There won’t be any non-residents watching the entertainment, or dining in the restaurant.

Plus, as the hotel is designed for pre-schoolers, I’d recommend staying outside of the holidays. Prices tend to lower outside of peak times. Even when the weather isn’t great, you can still have some fun in CBeebies Land on park, then go back to the hotel for entertainment. It’s a premium hotel in it’s opening year, it won’t be cheap – however – I think it’s worth it.

Overall

This hotel is without a doubt the jewel in the Alton Towers Resort crown. It’s been well designed and well thought out for young families. From the moment you step in the door, it feels special, magical even. From the colourful theming and the immersive soundtrack that plays throughout. The staff are wonderful, from the concierge to the waiting staff.

There’s no denying that it’s expensive, but, you’re paying for quality and exclusivity. As well all of the licensed use of BBC Worldwide characters. However, because it’s all licensed, the entertainment is top drawer – it HAS to be, the Beeb don’t want their property made to look bad. This shows, all the entertainment was well thought out for the target audience. J went to sleep shattered, but happy. If you can afford it. Go and stay at the CBeebies Land Hotel, you’ll have an incredible time.

However, don’t forget there are a massive range of accommodation options on the resort. All will give you a fantastic time, but if you’re a young family – you’ll love the CBeebies Land Hotel.
