Tyres On The Drive.com

Summary

It’s hard to fault the service from TyresOnTheDrive.com. It’s all very swift, slick and works well. Kieran was professional and friendly, and got the job done quickly. You do have to pay a premium for a more specific time slot, and fitting is only free on two tyres or more.

I’m not going to lie. I don’t really enjoy trips to the garage for any reason. Dad is a retired mechanic, and I like to follow in his footsteps somewhat. If I can do something to my car, I will. Even if I can’t, I’ll give it a damned good go. Unless you find a good garage you’re often sold extras you don’t need. There will be lots of sucking air through teeth, “Oooh you’ll need a new one of these very soon” type talk. I hate it.

Bottom line is, if I’m having to pay for something – I just want it done.

Something that’s hard to do safely is – Tyres. You can of course go to a garage and get your tyres done. However, you have to drive there, hang around in a dingy waiting room. Then to be told your tyres are done, but your exhaust is looking dodgy, and you’ll need some new pads and discs soon. It would be so much easier if someone rocked up to where you are, at a time that’s convenient and just did what you need.

A ropey rear in need of replacement.

So, when my rear tyres were looking a bit ropey. I was thankful TyresOnTheDrive.com got in touch to offer some Bridgestone tyres and free fitting in return for an honest review. I couldn’t resist.

Booking with TyresOnTheDrive.com

It’s really easy to get a fitting sorted with TyresOnTheDrive.com. You just go onto the website, enter your car registration and postcode and you’re on your way! The website will suggest what type of tyre you have. As there are often a lot of wheel options and trim levels on cars, there isn’t always one size of tyre for a particular model. If you’re not sure, just double check your existing tyres.

Once you’ve chosen the correct size, you’re then led through to chose the brand of tyre. There’s usually lots of choice, ranging from budget to premium. Bridgestone are a premium brand of tyre, so are more at the more expensive end.

If you’re buying two or more tyres – disposal, fitting and balancing is free of charge. You can then choose a timeslot – if you’re happy to have an ‘all day’ slot it’s free. If you want a 2 hour, or 4 hour slot, there’s a charge. If you book an all day slot you’ll get a text on the morning confirming a rough time slot. Because I’m normally at home during the day, a free ‘all day’ slot is fine by me!

Tyre fitting with TyresOnTheDrive.com

I had a call from Kieran from TyresOnTheDrive.com when he was around 15 minutes away. I’d made sure that the car was parked somewhere flat. Plus, I’d retrieved the locking wheel nut tool from the spare tyre in the boot. Kieran arrived when promised and gave all my tyres a quick once over.

Within no time at all my car was jacked up, and the old tyre was removed from the wheel. I had a peek inside the van, everything was spick and span. Everything had its place. He put the new Bridgestone tyre on and proceeded to balance the wheel. A balanced tyre means there won’t be any vibrations at higher speeds. He noticed there was a slight buckle on this wheel and would need a lot of weights to get it ‘to zero’ (balanced). Thankfully he took the time and managed to get it balanced.

Finishing up the job.

He put the wheel back on the car and moved onto the other rear tyre. In less than an hour, the job was done. After I’d signed his mobile a nice shiny receipt hit my email.
