These theme park announcements seem to be coming in thick and fast at the moment! This morning it’s been revealed that Room on the Broom – A Magical Journey is coming to Chessington World of Adventures Resort in 2019! It’s another tie in with Julia Donaldson after their successful project on The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure in 2017. Room on the Broom – A Magical Journey will launch in Spring 2019.

Where will Room on the Broom – A Magical Journey be located in Chessington?

According to the recent teasers on Chessington’s social media, ‘the Witch’ from Room on the Broom has ‘purchased’ Hocus Pocus Hall and made it her home. So it would be fair to say, that Room on the Broom – A Magical Journey will be in the now closed Hocus Pocus Hall building. The official title of the building is ‘Burnt Stub Mansion’. Burnt Stub Mansion was used as office space for Chessington originally, before being converted into Hocus Pocus Hall in 2003. Room on the Broom – A Magical Journey will open in there during Spring 2019.

What can we expect in Room on the Broom – A Magical Journey?

Families will be invited to visit the enchanted library and embark on their own spellbinding adventure. As the stormy wind blows, sending Witch’s hat, bow and wand tumbling to the ground, parents and children alike will have to search high and low in trees, fields and reeds. Helping Dog, Bird and Frog on their way to find the lost belongings. Guests will have to watch out though for a fearsome foe, Dragon, who fancies ‘Witch and chips’ for his tea!

The concept drawings that have accompanied the release suggest the ‘library’ scene from Hocus Pocus Hall will be retained. With one of the bookcases magically opening for guests to continue their adventure. It seems that Axel Scheffler’s drawings will once again come to life as they do in the The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure, in various scenes throughout the story. It will be fascinating to see how they convert this much loved children’s book into an attraction. Chessington pulled it off well with the Gruffalo, I have no doubt they’ll do it again.

“Following the success of The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure, we are excited as we hope our guests will be, to unveil our plans for another Julia Donaldson-inspired attraction and we can’t wait to open the doors to the enchanted library next year.” Tim Harrison-Jones, Divisional Director at Chessington World of Adventures Resort
