Announcement cards have gone through several different evolutions since their inception. In the old days, they were more like announcement letters, usually consisting of nothing more than the announcement itself and maybe some information about due dates or where and when to send gifts.

But these days, announcement cards come in all shapes and sizes, with designs that incorporate everything from photographs to cartoons to handwritten text or calligraphy. The sky’s the limit when it comes to personalizing your announcement card, so don’t be afraid to get creative and make something special that everyone will love.

How to make an announcement card

When you’re looking to announce your little one’s arrival, it can be tough to get all of your thoughts together in one place. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to announce a new baby—and announcements don’t have to be stuffy or old-fashioned.

You can look into bright and colorful announcement cards for a baby or design them yourself with an announcement template. Whether you use photo prints, digital photos, or even videos of your little bundle of joy, it can be fun (and easy) to make announcement cards that really suit your family.

Even better? Making announcement cards doesn’t require any special skills—just some patience, organization, and a little time. Here’s how to do it: 1 – Decide on what information you want to include in your announcement card. Write it down on a piece of paper so you remember later on.

For example, depending on how far along you are in your pregnancy and what sort of delivery method you plan to use, perhaps including basic birth stats like gender, weight, length, etc., would be helpful for those who want detailed information about their newest member/friend/cousin/niece, etc… Include things like your hospital choice if it’s known already so people can visit if they wish.

Find the Right Card

For new parents, first birthday invitations are an opportunity to share photos and information about their new bundle of joy with friends and family. But, let’s be honest, they can also be pretty boring.

There are tons of options out there, but not many that can truly reflect a family’s sense of style and fun. If you’re planning on announcing your new arrival by sending personalized cards to everyone you know, it’s time to shake things up with some thoughtful design.

While there are plenty of beautiful announcements at major retailers that make it easy for you to get started designing, what if you want something a little more customizable? What if you need to order a large quantity or have other special requirements?

Let us help. We have a custom card designer built just for mommies-to-be that makes ordering unique announcements simple and efficient—just choose one of our gorgeous templates, personalize it how you like and we’ll take care of everything else! From beginning to end (including printing), our process makes sure everything is executed perfectly so all mommy has left to do is smile.

Using announcement cards to announce your baby’s arrival is sure to delight friends and family, but choosing one that looks good can be tough. Today, most modern parents want gender-neutral cards that don’t scream Babies but could just as easily be used to announce an engagement or graduation—or anything else in between.

Fortunately, there are now tons of beautiful options you can choose from when looking for announcement cards; it might even be easier than choosing paper napkins. If you’re looking to get started on creating custom baby announcement cards of your own, there are a few different ways you can go about it.

Whatever option you pick, keep in mind these important points: Your baby announcements should reflect your personal style. They should reflect your personality. They should appeal to multiple members of your family. They should feature photos of people (if any). Although some may not care about these things—and we certainly understand if you don’t either.

It’s a good idea to make all these factors into priorities if you plan on having an announcement party with friends and family. Make no mistake: No matter how casual they appear, announcement parties can still feel very much like a big deal -so always do what makes you happy. In fact, we hope many announcements end up being fairly informal affairs without too much fuss involved.

Get it Personalized

It’s likely that you’ve started thinking about your little one-to-be, from baby names to nursery designs. But what about announcements? It can be hard to know where to start or if it’s even worth it in light of today’s online announcement culture.

Consider having announcement cards made if you want something simple and classy, but also personalized to suit you and your family. No two families are alike, and everyone deserves an announcement that is unique.

Just because cards are more old-fashioned doesn’t mean they have to follow traditional design constraints. If you don’t want images or prefer wordy text, simply stick with a font like cursive on colored paper.  You could add in cut-out letters, stickers—anything.

The ideas are endless. Your announcement doesn’t need to fit into an overly idealized mold; it just needs to make sense for you and your loved ones. Of course, regardless of how beautiful your custom-designed cards may be, words aren’t really necessary as long as people know who they should congratulate! Of course, if you choose stationery instead of postcards there’s room inside for thoughtful handwritten messages too.

Whatever you decide, take some time to consider what makes sense for you before getting started. It’s easy to get caught up in what other people do when planning big life events and feel like your celebrations must adhere to certain social conventions, but at their core, these moments belong only to you and your loved ones.

Let those closest to you help guide decisions while keeping true to your personal style, whether it be whimsical or minimalist. And while gorgeous cardstock might not matter much at all down the road, that special day is sure to spark memories every time someone pulls out those cards and reads them over again.
