Whether you are visiting as a family, going away for a romantic break or visiting with friends, there are a myriad of choices for you to choose from. Plus, there isn’t an ideal length of time to visit as every time you visit, there will be something new for you to do – if it’s match week, you could go and watch a football match. Birmingham currently sits at the top of the league and is likely to get promoted this season.

To help give you some inspiration, we have put together a guide on five things to do in Birmingham this year. Keep on reading to discover more and get inspired.

Attempt An Escape Room

Have you ever done an escape room before? They are so much fun and something most people can do and will enjoy – couples, families, or friends will all have a good time. You can do an escape room most days of the week, and the challenge will change depending on where you visit but the main goal stays the same: trying to escape the room by figuring out the clues. This is particularly fun as a group of you – if there is a large number, you might be asked to do two separate challenges, but this can be a fun way to add a bit of competition to your trip. Which of your groups will make it out of the escape room first?!

Watch A Football Match

In Birmingham, people are split on whether to support Aston Villa or Birmingham. Both are great teams, but currently, Birmingham is sitting in a lower league than Aston Villa. With that being said, you will still get a great match whoever you watch, with both teams pushing for top spots in their league (Birmingham currently sits 1st). When visiting, this could be a great day out that everyone can enjoy. You could go and watch a match, have a pre-game drink or some food, then take in the football. If there aren’t any matches going on when you are there, but you still want a taste of the football of the city, you could see if they are offering any stadium tours. These are a great way to see behind the scenes of your favourite teams even if you can’t watch a match.

Visit Cadbury World

You must have heard of Cadbury’s! They are one of the most famous chocolate brands in the UK. Their head office is based in Birmingham, where you can visit and see how the magic is done. Since opening in 1990, they have seen over 600,000 guests each year. Discover the process of making chocolate and learn about how Cadbury has become the brand they are today by visiting Cadbury’s World. Here you can explore the factory, find out behind the scenes information and get to try some chocolate bars along the way. There are plenty of interactive exhibits and the air smells heavenly of melted chocolate so you don’t want to arrive feeling too hungry!

A Day Out To The Sea Life Centre

The Sea Life Centre in Birmingham is a fantastic aquarium located in Brindleyplace, near the city center. It’s a great place to explore marine life, with thousands of creatures, interactive displays, and themed zones. You can spend hours here and it doesn’t matter who you’re visiting with, whether it’s a date, with friends or family members – if you have kids, this is a must-do activity. It’s a brilliant place where you can see loads of seawater animals, is great when it is raining and doesn’t break the bank in order to visit.

These are just a few of the best things you can do in Birmingham this year during your visit. Have you booked your break away yet and if not, when are you going to?
