If you prefer your chills and scares with a softer edge, our next park on my Halloween 2015 round-up is probably for you – ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I give you..

Chessington Howl’o’ween

Running between the 23rd October until 2nd November, the Chessington Howl’o’ween is suited for younger families. The whole park is wonderfully themed with lots of Halloween decorations and offers a spine-chilling week filled with thrills, howls and family fun awaits the bravest of guests, with jumps and goosebumps and rides in the dark around every corner.

With the park open until 8pm you get to experience the fun of Chessington’s bigger rides in the dark! One of my earliest theme park memories is flying through the trees of Transylvania on The Vampire at Halloween, with Dragon’s Fury and Rameses’ Revenge on the ‘late night’ line-up too it’s set to be great fun!

Also included in the family fun is the ‘Trick or Treat Wood’ which is suitable for all ages. Younger Adventurers must choose which path they’d like to take past the bewitching tree – will it be a tempting treat or a troublesome trick? Enchanted fairies and ghostly goblins will guide little explorers on their way, with plenty of tricks and treats.

For those aged 8 and over a ‘Horror Maze’ experience at the Chessington Howl’o’ween in the form of the ‘Curse of the Lost Tomb’ maze. Where adventurers delve into the secret lost tomb of Genghis Khan with an intriguing archaeologist with a cryptic map that will hopefully lead you to discover the mystery of this ancient site.

Will all be revealed, or will the cursed tomb claim those who dare to enter? With a ghostly surprise at every turn and live actors, this interactive maze isn’t for the faint hearted. This attraction is aimed at those over 8 and has a high bat rating for those who dare enter!

I’ve not done Chessington Howl’o’ween for a very long time, it’s a bit like Alton Towers where I’m there either before or after, so I’m really hoping to get along this year with Miss A and the kids to see what’s in store!

If you book ahead on the website (there’s Quidco too!) you can get tickets to Chessington Howl’o’ween from just £27pp (saving 43%!), and all children under 0.9m get in for free too! There are short breaks available at the Chessington Resort Hotels where you can extend your fun (I’ve written about my experience there in this post) with prices from £257 per family. With creepy animal meet and greets, a spooky movie club and lots of fun activities for the family to enjoy!
