Burns

Sunday was a hectic day, I woke late, shattered from my already long weekend, the smell of fresh pastries cooking in the oven was welcoming, until I took them out and burnt my finger on the hot tray. I swore, and dropped the tray – it REALLY hurt.

OUCH!
OUCH!

Balls

The late start had meant I was in a bit of a rush for the main thing that was happening today – FOOTBALL – in my 34 years, I’ve never been to a football match, EVER! Earlier on in the year I’d won tickets to see West Ham vs. West Brom, and as Miss A is a MASSIVE Hammers fan, it’d be mean not to take her. So we rushed to Stratford in the car, to jump on the tube to Upton Park. It was all very surreal to me, walking to the ground was a sea of football fans, all politely swarming to the hallowed turf. I felt very out of place – Miss A knew where we were going, and managed to find the right entrance and got us to our, frankly incredible seats just as the kick off was due.

UPTON PARK!
UPTON PARK!

It was so bizarre watching something I’ve seen on the TV right in front of me! It was so strange seeing the team warming up doing their football training drills before the match. I’ve still no idea who most of the players are, and missed the action replays and commentary you get with the TV, but it was fun to experience it all for real. I think the thing that surprised me most was just how polite it all felt, there was lots of clapping for the players doing things, most of which I didn’t understand WHY they deserved to be clapped. The second half seemed was a bit louder and rambunctious, but, still very polite with all the clapping. I’ve no idea how they manage to run around for so long, probably some kind of endurance training – I felt tired watching them!

The view from the seats was perfect!

Our seats were directly behind the ‘Posh’ seats, so it was a bit surreal to see ‘Danny FUCKING Dyer’, Lady Karren Brady and Sir Trevor Brooking just metres away, enjoying the match. As soon as the final whistle blew, the stadium cleared, everyone rushing to not get stuck in transport based queues I assume, no time to think about what had just happened, just BOOM, out of the door! Thankfully we were right near the exit, so after a bit of a queue to get on the tube we were on one back to Stratford and my first ever football match was done! Am I a football fan? No.. I like that I’m not completely clueless about it now, but – I don’t think I’ll ever be into any sport!

Burgers

Feeling a little peckish once back at Westfield, the cure for my hunger pangs was obvious – Shake Shack – if you’ve never been – GO! This American based chain know how to do Burgers and Fries, and it’s not daftly expensive either. Their ‘Shroom’ burger is a massive Portobello mushroom, stuffed with cheese, covered in bread crumbs and fried. It’s a mushroomy-cheesy-goo-filled heaven, and with their ‘Cheesy Fries’ it’s a perfect match. The slight problem was, they’d given us both ACTUAL burgers, thankfully Miss A noticed before either of us took a bite, they had mixed up the order and quickly gave us the ‘Shrooms instead. I’m proud of being ‘meat free’ for as long as I have now, it was SO close to being over! To be honest though, the Shroom burger is so delicious I could forgive Shake Shack ANYTHING.

A slowish trudge around the M11, to collapse on the sofa ended my long weekend, filled with Bands, Bloggers, Burns, Balls and Burgers!
