Keen to offer guests something new, Chessington World of Adventures Resort have unveiled an exciting new way to spend the night with them – Explorer Glamping! For those who have lived under a rock and are unaware of what ‘Glamping’ is, its ‘Glamorous Camping’. So you don’t have to worry about bringing gear, like flashlights or, sleeping bags. Personally, I’m not sure any form of camping could be defined as glamorous, but Chessington seem to have set the bar high with their latest offering.
The press release says –
Perfect for those who want to indulge their adventurous side without compromising life’s simple pleasures, the new glamping accommodation turns a family sleepover into an exciting, outdoor experience with an engaging community atmosphere. Guests will be greeted at the site and offered a number of activities including exclusive access to a selection of Wild Asia attractions at select times of year, and lively evening entertainment. They will then be able to get snug under the stars to share stories of the day’s escapades before waking up to the wonderful sounds of the surrounding wilderness.
The Explorer Glamping is located close to the ‘Wild Asia’ area of the park in a previously undeveloped patch of land – the Glampsite will have 31 Standard Tents and 4 Premium ‘Amboseli’ Tents. You can see the difference between the two below :
Whilst both styles of tent are suitably glam, there is no provision for toilets and showers within – which is understandable as it is ‘camping’ after all! These facilities are in a communal building on the site. The site as well as having its own reception, will have an ‘Explorers Outpost’ where Breakfast is served between 8am-9.30am and Dinner between 6.30pm – 8pm.
Residents of the Explorer Glamping will have access to Wild Asia in the evening when the park closes, also two days for the price of one in the theme park and a choice of games for the kids to play throughout the glampsite. The cost certainly isn’t budget, with a family of 4 staying in a Standard Tent costing £301 during the Summer Holidays, and £362 for a Premium Tent. Obviously these prices include the theme park tickets, but it’s still a fair amount of money.
It’s also worth noting that there is only room for a cot in the Premium Tents, and they won’t be provided, you’ll need to bring your own.
I’m intrigued by the Explorer Glamping, it’s a first for a UK Theme Park and definitely offers something new and exciting to traditional overnight accommodation you’d find anywhere else. I’m hoping to give it a whirl myself later in the year! If the site is anything like the beautiful ‘Enchanted Village‘ at Alton Towers I’m sure Chessinton could well be onto a winner!
