Blogging is a strange world – when I got an invite from Currys and Hotpoint to an event where Celebrity Masterchef winner Lisa Faulkner would be cooking a few dishes I jumped at the chance – it seemed too good an opportunity to miss.
A small group of bloggers met at the Hotpoint Design Centre, which was stacked with beautiful shiny kitchen toys for her to teach us some of her scrumptious spring recipes. Downstairs in the kitchen Lisa was waiting to give us a run through of two dishes – Lemon Sole Fillets en Papillote and a super retro Pineapple Upside Down Cake.
Amazingly, the dishes could be cooked at the same time in the Hotpoint OpenSpace Oven, which has the ability to cook at two different temperatures in the same oven!
After the demonstration, we were tasked with making our own dinner, with Lisa helping along the way. Obviously being a veggie I wasn’t keen on cooking fish, so I made the pudding instead.
When all the dishes were ready, it was time to eat, everyone took a seat and tucked in..
.. I may not have done, and might have floated around waiting for the pudding to be ready, whilst drinking wine.
(I did!)
Then it was time for the Pineapple Upside Down cake to be served – it’s so quick and easy to make, and tastes wonderful!
With that, the evening was drawing to a close – all that was left to do was grab a picture with Lisa, and receive a signed copy of her book ‘Tea and Cake’ – which has now got pride of place on our shelf in the kitchen! Thank you so much to Lisa, Currys and Hotpoint, for being such fantastic hosts for the evening!
Also a MASSIVE thank you to House of Fraser who sent me some new T-Shirts for the events I’ve attended recently! 🙂
