Tulleys Shocktober Fest 2019 is rapidly approaching, there were rumours of some changes this year. Last year was our first trip to Tulleys Shocktober Fest, and honestly, I was utterly blown away. From stepping into our first maze, and walking through all the entertainers and sideshows, it was utterly compelling.
I was actually annoyed with myself I’d never been before. I feel like it will be part of our Halloween calendar for years to come. We’re off to the press launch in a few weeks time, and I’ll be able to give you the full scoop on everything you need to know about Tulleys Shocktober Fest 2019. But for now though, the official press release has landed, so I’ll guide you through everything they’ve released.
What’s happening at Tulleys Shocktober Fest 2019?
Well, I think the official press release sums it up beautifully –
“Prepare for night you won’t forget. Leave reality at the gates and go out of your mind as Shocktober Fest returns in 2019 with 10 haunted attractions, including 2 new terrifying mazes to survive. Be sure of a night filled with dazzling special effects, immersive scenery and live actors surrounding the streets with great food, drink and one hell of an atmosphere”
Tulley’s Shocktober Fest 2019 is at Tulley’s Farm in Tulleys Farm, Crawley, West Sussex. Because it’s on a Farm, there is a LOT of space – Tulleys Shocktober Fest is VAST. When you’re bumping along on the Horror-wood Hayride, you really start to understand the scale of it all. It’s a proper night out, there are mazes, sideshows, entertainment, food and drink. You can head on down with a group of mates and have a ball. There’s a lot of it undercover too, so if the weather gets grotty, it won’t ruin things.
How much does the Tulleys Shocktober Fest 2019 cost?
There are lots of ticket options available for Tulleys Shocktober Fest 2019. Prices start at £12 for a ‘Street Pass’ That doesn’t get you into the mazes, but it does give you Park Entry, Street Theatre, Live Music, and Free car parking. If you’re feeling brave then a ticket that will get you into the mazes, an ‘XScream Pass’ will cost from £33.
There are further options of adding Fast Track, unlimited Fast Track and also a ‘Season Pass’. You can see all of the options and prices here. I like that you can just go in and enjoy the atmosphere with the Street Pass. Scare attractions aren’t for everyone, but the Street Pass would allow you to go and have a fun evening with your friends, and give the mazes a swerve!
When is Tulleys Shocktober Fest 2019 on?
Tulleys Shocktober Fest 2019 kicks off with the Press Launch on Friday 4th October. The general public are able to visit that night too and watch arrivals on the ‘Black Carpet’ and experience the scares alongside the famouses and press. I think that’s really flipping cool!
So the full dates for Tulleys Shocktober Fest 2019 are – 4-5th October, 10-13th October, 16-20th October, 22nd-27th October, 29th-31st October and finally the 1st and 2nd of November (there’s a big fireworks finale on the last night!)
What’s on the Tulleys Shocktober Fest 2019 Lineup?
So first up are two new mazes for 2019 – I can’t really offer any commentary on these, because, well, I’ve not done them! But the teaser videos posted on social media look fascinating –
Wastelands Penitentiary
The year is 1998, 13 years beyond the moment of “light”, the explosion ripped through our world, bringing an end to civil life. Buildings became ruins, forests became wastelands and to survive humans pulled on their primal instincts. The penitentiary was strong and secure, but since the disaster, it has become a haven for all that is bad. The power shift has changed. Inmates once detained are now free, guards that were in control are fighting to survive … will you?
The Wreckoning
We’ve all heard the pirate tales of old. How Black Beard terrorised the seven seas and how Long John Silver tricked and swindled poor sailors. The black spot, Davey Jones locker and walking the plank.
Forget the legends. Forget the frivolous folktales of brave buccaneers. These pirates are more than legend. These are the stranded souls who have sunk to the depths of despair and depravity. Shipwrecked and unscrupulous these pirates have created a new world on this island, and they intend to enforce their Pirate Law upon it. They bring violence, murder and disease. They bring The Wreckoning. Don’t ask them for ‘pieces of eight’ or to ‘shiver any timbers.’ These mutinous murderers won’t swash or buckle! Oh and don’t say ‘Arrr!’ to them. You might end up screaming, “AAARRRRGHHHHHHHHH!”
The Creepy Cottage
The Creepy Cottage is an excellent ‘warm-up’ when you first get to Tulleys Shocktober Fest 2019 – it’s probably one of the ‘tamer’ mazes there, but even so – it’s pretty flipping scary.
“The spooks in here believe in a traditional welcome and will show you all around the house – even the winding corridors where the lights don’t work and the rooms where the floor boards have been eaten away by creepy crawlies. There’s a lot of long since passed family members hanging around in there too – it seems so cruel to bury them underground… ”
It was brilliant last year and just seems to go on FOREVER. Love it!
Horrorwood Haunted Hayride
This is SUCH a unique attraction, you ride in the tractor of a trailer and head into the darkness of the forest, and quite frankly, all HELL breaks loose! As the name suggests, it’s quite a theatrical experience, but don’t let that make you think it’s gentile – it’s not – there are a LOT of scares and some of the ‘actors’ get far too close for comfort!
“Back in the Golden Age of cinema, the Horrorwood film studios in their secret woodland location, were booming, full of glamour and intrigue and bursting with life. Now all old Horrorwood is bursting with is DEATH. After the terrible incident with the actor who played ‘The Woodsman’ the old studio was forced to close and all the movie sets and props remained abandoned in their woodland setting.”
There are very few scare experiences like this in the UK, so don’t miss it!
