Alton Towers Scarefest 2019 takes place on October Weekends (5th, 6th, 12th and 13th) and then each day from 18th October to 3rd November 2019.

So what’s on the Alton Towers Scarefest 2019 Line Up Announcement?
The ‘Headliners’ are THREE new experiences –
Darkest Depths
Now this was completely unexpected.
“A brand new family maze ‘Darkest Depths’ will take guests on a ghostly voyage into pirate folklore and come face to face with legendary creatures of the deep.”
Darkest Depths is a brand new scare maze cleverly developed for families and thrillseekers alike, that will invite guests to board the infamous ghost ship ‘The Mutiny’ and journey into the darkest depths to earn your piece of eight. The treacherous Sirens will try to lure you into the ocean as you dodge the swords of the mutinous ghost pirates and come face to face with the sea’s meanest legend of all … the Kraken!
It will be based in the Courtyard area where ‘The Welcoming’ has been previously. Darkest Depths is recommended for those aged 8 and over. Tickets for it will be £5 per person.
The Attic: Terror of the Towers
You read that correctly, Scare fan favourite ‘Terror of the Towers’ is BACK, and I’m over the blummin’ moon! This addition Alton Towers Scarefest 2019 Line Up excites me!
Set in the eaves of the Tower ruins, guests will be invited to venture to the head-spinning heights of The Attic which is rumoured to be haunted by ‘the Governess’. Local legend says she is eternally trying to avenge the death of her charges; taking the spirits of the living as penance. What will you discover and who will be her next victim?
Deemed by its creators to be the most thrilling yet – The Attic will provide a brand new, unique and truly chilling experience. Created in the very eaves of the ruins, a space never adapted for use before, the maze will use the sensation of colour in a very clever and masterful way to add an additional layer to the spine-tingling multisensory terror. It is something never done previously in a bid to provide a truly chilling and unforgettable experience.
The Attic: Terror of the Towers is recommended for those aged 15+ and tickets will be £8 per person. It’s NOT part of the 3 maze Combi ticket.
Alton Towers Dungeon
Yep, unsurprisingly the Alton Towers Dungeon is a big part of the Alton Towers Scarefest 2019 Line Up. It would seem that the experience will be altered and ramped up a little to suit Scarefest. The release says –
“The brand new Alton Towers Dungeon is promising less laughs and more screams with the arrival of Halloween. What better time of year to encounter the gruesome Plague Doctor, the twisted Torturer or the terrifying Witch of Burslem? If you dare to journey down the Black River this Scarefest prepare yourself for even more shocks and surprises.”
The release mentions the introduction of live-action ‘Plague Street’ and some bonus frights to get pulses racing.
So what’s returning on the Alton Towers Scarefest 2019 Line Up?
Sub-Species – The End Games
This really doesn’t need much introduction, it’s been part of the roster for several years now, and feels like it’s getting darker an more intense each time! I do enjoy Sub-Species – The End Games, especially the fact you MAY get pulled away from your group!

Project 42
YES!!!! I’m overjoyed that Project 42 is back on the Alton Towers Scarefest 2019 Line Up. It was CRAZY last year, and great use of the Nemesis – Sub Species building. Project 42 genuinely blew me away last year, and I can’t wait to do it again!

I had heard rumblings that the Altonville Mine Towers wouldn’t be around this year, but that rumour seems unfounded because it’s on the press release…
Altonville Mine Tours: Uncover the Legend of the Skin Snatchers
I do love the Altonville Mine Tours and I’m happy it’s back at the Alton Towers Scarefest! It’s become a firm favourite of mine! The trailer for it is below.

Anything else on the Alton Towers Scarefest 2019 Line Up Announcement?
Yes!! Alton Towers Scarefest is also a must-do Halloween event for families with younger children. Join the fabulous Freaky Five – Franklyn, Skelvin, Patch, Phil and Gretyl – in their colourful Halloween playland! With four shows full of fun and silliness, Patch’s Halloween Party is bigger and better than ever. Young families can also take part in the CBeebies Land Monster Ball, dance along with our dancing flashmob of Alton Ancestors plus ride over 20 attractions at dusk!
Open until 9pm daily, Scarefest also sees the much-anticipated return of ‘rides in the dark’. Experience the spectacular Wicker Man as it bursts into flames; an experience that is even more thrilling and intense by night.
Anything else?
It’s great to see the return of some favourites, however, it seems that the ‘House of Monsters’ WON’T be returning for the Alton Towers Scarefest 2019. Which is a shame, it looks like the ‘Darkest Depths’ is replacing it. House of Monsters was an incredibly entertaining family maze that has proved popular over the past two years. It will be missed, but I’m sure Darkest Depths will be a worthy replacement.
Also gone is ‘The Welcoming’ which I LOVED. I suppose we’re no longer welcoming the Wicker Man, so it makes sense to let it go. Never mind! If you want to get an idea what ‘The Welcoming’ was like, I did a full walkthrough in the opening year.
Final thoughts
The Alton Towers Scarefest 2019 Line Up is looking good. I’m excited to see how it all pans out. I’m a massive fan of the Alton Towers Dungeon, so I’m intrigued to see how that is made scarier. I’m also VERY VERY happy to see ‘Terror of the Towers’ back at Alton Towers Scarefest 2019 – it’s much loved, and was missed last year. It’s exciting to see that Project 42 is returning, it was one of the best mazes I did in the 2018 season and had a lot of fans.
It’s a shame that some of the other mazes have been retired, but I know these events need to change and evolve. The ‘Darkest Depths’ could be a very interesting proposition especially if it uses Shark Bait Reef. We will have to wait and see. No doubt I’ll be at the Alton Towers Scarefest 2019 as soon as possible and vlogging it all, it’s one of my Halloween highlights!
