Guys, if you love to travel and you like to look good, there are a few things you should know…
Shower as close to your flight as possible
If you want to ensure that you look fresh as a daisy when you are travelling (and who doesn’t?) simply take a shower as close to your flight as possible, whether it’s 9am12 pm or dinnertime. The cleaner you are when you set ourt on your journey, the less unkempt you will get during the trip, right?
Dress comfortably
By all means, travel in your sharpest suit if that is what you would prefer, but if you want to look good and enjoy your trip, it may be a better idea to dress a little more comfortably. If you look at, for example, Stone Island for men, there are lots of stylish sweatshirts, cargo trousers and even shorts that look smart while also being flexible enough to be comfortable on any flight. This is the kind of style you should be going for -smaet casual but comfy too.
Slip on shoes are a delight
If you want your feet to be as comfortable as the rest of you, slip on shoes are a good shout because they tend to have a more relaxed fit. So, whether it’s chelsea boots or sliders, be sure to wear something slip on when you head off on your next trip. That way, as well as benefitting from the comfort of the shoes, you can also ez`saily slip them on and oiff when your feet need a break. Just make sure you’re wearing a nice pair of socks and your feet are clean if you want to avoid offending your travel companions!
Sunglasses are essential
Sunglasses are a musat for men and women when flying. Why? Because not only will they shield your eyes from the bright rays of the sun, but you can also use them to hide those dark circles and red eyes after a long flight, which means you can keep up your stylish appearance without giving the game away that you’re actually a little worse for wear. Aviators are a classic but try a few different styles on to see what suits you best.
Layering is a must
When you’re taking a flight, dressing in multiple layers is never a bad idea because it will allow you to better control your temperature. Airports and planes can be either too hot or too cold, and that can make you look less than stylish due to the fact you’ve sweated through your shirt or you’ve shivered so much your trousers are creased. So, instead of wearing just one layer, wear a vest or t-shirt under your shirt and maybe wear a comfy cardigan or jumper over that too. Oh, and be sure to bring your nicest, least likely to creasse coat.
Spritz a little cologne
A nice fresh cologne will help you feel a bit better and smell a little fresher when you’re travelling, but be sure to use it sparingly as you don’t want to risk offending the noses of the people you are travelling in close proximity to – you want them to think you smell great not that you just plain stink!
Hang or fold your jacket
If you’re wearing a jacket, and as mentioned above, you probably should be, if you’re travelling by train, as soon as you get on be sure to hang it up on one of the hooks provides so that it will remain wrinkle-free. Getting on a plane, carefully fold and store it before take-off so that when you get back off again, you won’t look like a big dishevelled mess.
Invest in high-quality luggage
It doesn’t matter how well you dress if your luggage has seen better days; if it’s scuffed and falling apart at the seams, no one is going to point you out as being the most stylish guy in the airport lounge. Of course, that doesn’t mean that you have to go designer, but you should make an effort to invest in the best quality you can afford. Plain leather luggage always looks stylish and sophisticated, and it’s very durable too, so if you can afford it, it may well be an investment worth making.
Curate a capsule wardrobe
If you want to be able to pack light, but also ensure that you look amazing while you’re enjoying your vacation time, it may be a good idea to curate your very own travel capsule wardrobe. What this looks like will depend completely on your own personal style and where you’re travelling too, but ideally, it should consist of the following:
- A smart pair of shoes
- A pair of trainers
- High-quality sandals
- 2-3 t-shirts, including 1 polo
- 1 one two button-down shirts
- 1 pair of jeans
- 2 pairs of shorts
- 2 sets of swimming shorts
- 2 sweaters
- A smart jacket
- A casual jacket
- One suit
- Enough socks and underwear for the trip
Tweak this as you like, but it makes for a good starting point when packing.
Roll, don’t fold
When you’re packing, it’s a good idea to roll everything from your suit jackets to your t-shirts. Not only will you fit more into your suitcase, but you will also be less likely to end up with lots of extremely creased clothing. Of course, if you have the capacity to lay them flat, then that is going to be even better, but few of us have a big enough luggage allowance to make that practical.
Carry on a comb
So many men forget to pack a comb in their carry-on luggage, which is a huge mistake for any man who has hair because you know that your locks will get messed up when you’re fidgeting around in that tiny plane seat you’ve been allocated, or if you have a little shut-eye on a long flight. So, buy an extra comb and keep it in your carry-on, That way, you can fix your hair before you get off the plane, and no one will ever have to see you looking anything other than your stylish and handsome best.
Wear a hat
Of course, if you wear your most dapper hat on the plane, you won’t need to worry about anyone seeing you with messy bedhead because your hair won’t be visible and you can maintain your cool and stylish exterior with even less effort.
Carry on a spare set of clothing too
If you are able to, it’s also useful to pack a spare set of clothing in your carry-on too. That way, if you spill your airline dinner down your front, sweat through your t-shirt or even lose your luggage, you will have at least one fresh set to change into as soon as possible.
Pack some wet wipes
Another thing you may want to pack in your carry-on is a set of wet wipes which you can use to fresh up your face (and armpits) should it get a bit hot on your travels. In fact, if you’re visiting a hot country, carrying a few wet wipes with you wherever you are is a really good way to ensure you always look, feel, and smell fresh.
I hope these simple tips help you to travel as your most stylish, put-together self. Travelling always feels better when you are as comfortable as you can possibly be and as presentable as possible. It just makes you feel good about yourself and your journey.
Have fun!
