The first hobby that we suggest thinking about is cooking/baking. Of course, these are extremely similar with the only real difference between them being the fact that one of them focuses on creating savoury meals, while the other focuses on creating desserts and baked goods. You might immediately know which of the two that you are going to prefer, or you might need some time to try them both out before you have a better idea of which one makes you happy. While they are so similar, they are also extremely different which is why not all cooks are bakers and vice versa.

Cooking or baking can be a fantastic hobby choice. A lot of people find it relaxing to focus on this, and to see the results when they are produced. Often, people find that both of these are quite calming, if not stressful in themselves, but this stress comes from a place of making things perfectly. Just try it out, see how it goes, and you never know, it might be perfect for you. At the very least, you will make some delicious products.

Sport

Another thing that we recommend is taking up some kind of sport. Sports keep you fit, healthy, and they help you to keep your mind on the task at hand rather than anything else. As such, they are a great way to deal with anxiety, stress and depression, if only for a short time. If you manage to find a sport that you really enjoy, then you can spend more time dedicating yourself to perfecting it. Reading is one of the best things that you can do, whether you only do it every now and then, or if it’s a more regular thing for you. No matter what anyone says, and no matter what you read, you are opening your mind to new possibilities and keeping it active which is important for health. 

You might have heard some people say that you have to read all the time, you have to get through x number of books and you constantly have to update your to be read list in order to be a proper reader, this is not true. Read what you want, when you want, and use this as an escape from life for a little while if you need to. There are so many worlds that you can visit in books, so make sure that you’re visiting them when you need to.

Walking

Walking isn’t a sport, but it is good for your health and can be a hobby all on its own. Going for a walk or two every day is really good for your health overall, it keeps you fit, and makes you feel good when you get back. In fact, if you complete a 30 minute walk each morning and each evening, this is good enough! But, if you find yourself enjoying it, and you have fun walking around, exploring new places, or even walking circuits that you have walked previously, then walk for as long as you want.

You never know what you’re going to find when you head out on a mini adventure. Just make sure that you have your phone with you so that if you do manage to venture somewhere you don’t know, you can find your way home. Safety is the most important thing, so ensure that you’re doing everything that you can to remain safe.

Art

We know that there are many forms of art, but when you think of art, the first thing that you think of is likely drawing, painting, or some other kind of method that creates a picture. That’s what most people think of when we say art, so that’s what we’ll focus on in this subheading. A lot of people use art for a number of reasons. Some people use it to express the words that they cannot say, some people just want to create pretty pictures that others can enjoy, and some people use it as a way to calm themselves down. No matter what reason you use it for, it’s a fantastic hobby. It’s a creative outlet that most people don’t even know that they need.

A lot of people seem to be under the impression that you have to be good at art, and you have to create something beautiful in order for it to be worth your time. This is not the case at all, it just needs to feel good to do what you do.

Music

How often do you listen to music? Have you ever wished that you could play an instrument? If you have, now is the time to give it a try. Music is one of the most therapeutic things to ever exist. It takes you away from the world that you are in and transports you into an entirely new one. Even if you only want to listen to music, that’s fine as this can be counted as a hobby on its own, but we encourage you to get involved in it somehow. Pick an instrument and learn how to play it. You don’t ever have to play it in front of anyone if you don’t want to as this is not the point of a hobby, but you have the choice to do what you want. You can create beautiful music when you know what you’re doing, and it’s a fantastic way to be more involved with something that you love.

Knitting

If we say knitting, we bet that you think of an old lady sitting in her rocking chair and knitting blankets. While this does happen, it’s not only old women who enjoy knitting. Knitting takes a lot of skill and it’s not something everyone can master. It takes a lot of time and dedication to learn how to knit to the point where you can actually create things other than patterns on a square. It is a calming exercise, and keeps your hands busy meaning it’s great for those who have anxiety as you always have your hands occupied.

Writing

The final thing that we are going to look at is writing. Some people have a talent for writing whether it’s poetry, or whether it’s stories. Writing can be a fantastic hobby as you can get lost in the words for hours. The best writing is that of what you know, it’s your own pain on a page, it’s your own laughs on a page, telling a story that you don’t voice out loud. Some people find comfort in journaling about everyday events, while others look forward to having a space to vent their innermost thoughts.
