11. Stealth
Did you know, Stealth was originally going to be called ‘The Edge’? If you look really close at the sign at the entrance you can actually see the original name! Launching you to 80mph in 2 seconds, you’re thrown over the top of the 205ft high top hat. It looks scary, and – it is a little, however by the time you’ve realised you’re up in the sky, you’re coming back down. Brave it, you’ll love it. Promise!
12. UNLIMITED Pizza
If you’ve worked up an appetite Inferno’s Pizza and Pasta is the place to go. For a set price (with 20% off with an Annual Pass!) you can eat an obscene amount of pizza, pasta and salad. Perhaps don’t go on Stealth straight afterwards, instead why not go on, number 13.
13. Rumba Rapids
It’s not the wildest, wettest or most thrilling ride, however, it’s one of the oldest in Thorpe Park Resort. Adventurers over 90cm can bump and splash along in the rapids. Don’t be fooled though, you will get wet, some riders more than others, depending where the waves crash. If you’re not keen on getting soaked, grab a poncho!
14. The Walking Dead
Thorpe Park Resort have secured the rights to one of the biggest franchises in the world. 2018 will be ‘The Year of The Walking Dead’ at Thorpe Park, there will be lots of TWD themed events throughout the year. The centrepiece of it all is The Walking Dead – The Ride. Obviously, I can’t add the ride to my list yet but I loved The Walking Dead mazes at last year’s Fright Nights, and I can’t wait to experience ‘Living Nightmare : Extreme’ when it opens.
15. Fright Nights
Thorpe Park Resort do Halloween really well. I’ve been visiting the Fright Nights for years now, and they just seem to get better and better. I love how the park changes after dark. The lighting, the music, the atmosphere – it’s SO good. As well as the mazes there is ‘Containment’ which is an escape room experience. It’s not for the feint of heart. Remember – the actors may touch you, but they will not harm you.
16. Donut regret
Thorpe Park Resort has a handful of ‘Games’ you can pay to play. Quite often the ‘top’ prizes are MASSIVE teddies or donuts. If you’re going to play them, maybe wait until nearer the end of the day. You don’t want to end up with ‘Donut regret’. I’ve seen many a grumpy person having to lug around a giant donut for the WHOLE day. Be warned.
17. Mr Monkey’s Banana Ride
Again, it’s one of the ‘smaller’ rides, but it has a certain charm. It’s essentially a very little Pirate Ship. Both my kids tested their mettle on this ride. J loved it and squealed with delight. G, well she cried and screamed. There’s usually only a tiny queue, so little ones won’t get grumpy waiting to ride.
18. The Music
Thorpe Park have spent a LOT of time and effort on making the Resort SOUND amazing. It does! There’s an overall ‘tune’ and it’s mixed up across the island to fit with the theme of the area. You’ll find yourself humming along days after you’ve left the resort. In conjunction with the composers IMAScore, you can actually BUY the soundtrack to the Island. I’ve listened to it more than is probably healthy.
19. Colossus
The world’s first 10 looping rollercoaster is still a firm favourite of mine. I love the ‘clack-clack’ of the lift hill. I love the way it makes the ground rumble. I love watching the faces of riders as they go over the bunny hop and then under the shop. I love how the ride snakes around the ride area and queueline. It’s a little rough and ready in places, but it’s a MASSIVE part of the Thorpe Park story, I always enjoy a spin, or 10!
20. Falafel Kebabs
Perfect for a veggie like me. Amity Kebab is home to MAGNIFICENT Falafel Kebabs. Great for a meal on the go!
